The 2013 Irish Orienteering Championships took place last weekend on some challenging open terrain near Oughterard, Co. Galway. Galway Orienteers - The Western Eagles mapped three great new areas for the championships and the wet weather didn't dampen competitors spirits and it was a great weekend of orienteering. Cork Orienteering club was well represented in this year's championships and we'd just like to congratulate all our members who competed in the Middle Distance, Classic Distance and Relay events. It was a great weekend's orienteering for the club with plenty of podium finishers! Well done to all. A special mention must be given to Marcus Pinker for winning the mens elite classic distance title and to the Women's Premier Team of Sharon Lucey, Ailbhe Creedon O'Sullivan and Niamh Corbett for taking the Women's Relay title.
