The fifth and final event in our Cork League saw a small gathering converge in Seefin in The Nagle mountains in North Cork on Sunday morning. Following the wet and windy conditions on Saturday, Sunday was a much calmer day and the bright clear weather afforded participants some stunning views of the Ballyhoura Mountains on their way home. Seefin Wood is comprised of some areas of beautiful runnable forest mixed with some rough pockets. A number of trees in the wood were uprooted as a result of the stormy weather we experienced earlier this year and these presented competitors with a few obstacles to negotiate on their chosen routes. The vast network of earth walls and numerous steams provided excellent hand rails to many of the control sites. With four courses on offer on the day there was something to suit all levels of experience. So down to the business of results and Brian Corbett fresh from his multiple victories at this year's Irish Championships continued his winning ways and had a very convincing win on the Long Technical course. It was Liam O'Brien who took the honours on the Short Technical course while Clare Nuttall was fastest around the Improvers course. Fiona Power and her team of beginners took the spoils on the Beginners course. Full individual results with split times are available here: Just a reminder that our next event will be in Fota House and Gardens this evening when the 2014 Summer League kicks off. |
