Hi All, Following all the excitement of the Irish Orienteering Championships last weekend the next big event on the CorkO orienteering calender is the 2013 Summer League. This year's league will be kicking off next Tuesday evening May 14th at Fota House and Gardens and runs every Tuesday until July 23rd. Each week we will be orienteering in a different forest or park in and around Cork city and county. So it is time to root out your o-shoes and dust off your SI card and get ready for some woodland adventures. Time will tell whose winter training has been most effective and who will peak at the right time! We hope the reigning Summer League champions Men's Long Course Champion Rob McEvoy Women's Long Course Champion Ailbhe Creedon and Short Course Champion Sean Bosonnet will be out to defend their titles. No doubt other rivalries will be renewed and perhaps even some new contenders will emerge over the coming weeks. But also remember the summer league events are fun, suitable for all the family, young and old, and irrespective of fitness levels. As usual there will be two courses on offer each evening. 1. Short (<2.5km) which is aimed at families, juniors and beginners. 2. Long (< 5km) Start times will be between 5:30 and 7pm. Entry fees are €3 Children, €5 Adult and €10 Family.
So if your looking for a healthy, fun, outdoor activity to fill the long
summer evenings then why not encourage your family, friends or
colleagues to take part and enjoy a fun evening in the woods. Beginners
and families are always welcome, and we will have someone on hand at
each event to show you the ropes. Furthermore, if anyone would
like some flyers or a poster to help promote the league in your
workplace please let me know and I'll get some to you.
