Munster League #3: Rosskerrig Sheep's Head SUNDAY APRIL 10th Event Info

Join us as we take to the hills of the Sheep's Head Peninsula on Sunday 10th April for the fourth round of the 2016 Munster League.

This will be an orienteering race on open mountain terrain, perfect for anyone training for the Leinster Champs later this month or the Irish Champs next month.

The good news for orienteers, and bad news for the local wildlife, is that there has recently been very aggressive burning of almost the entire area. The vegetation is essentially gone from 90% of the hillside. No gorse, no tussocks and no heather.

This will be part of the Munster League 2016 series.
Courses lengths as follows:
Brown: 8.8km, 290m climb
Blue: 6.5km 205m
Green: 4.8km 140m
Light Green: 3.5km 120m
Red: 3.7km 145m
Orange: 2.5km 80m

Start any time from 11am to 1pm

Registration will take place outside the "Tin Pub" in Ahakista. Start is ~1km walk from registration.

There are a limited number of parking space here but extra cars can park on the road leading to the church in Ahaskista as there are two parking areas there.

Beginners are welcome - although this may not be the best area to try orienteering for the very first time. If you have been orienteering for a while and have never experienced open mountain terrain, then this is the event for you!
