The second event in the CorkO Summer League will take place on TUESDAY MAY 19TH at Currabinny Wood, Ringaskiddy. It is sure to present new and interesting orienteering challenges to all who partake. Just a reminder that you need to attend 6 events to receive a league finishers t-shirt....so why not get them in early! ***************** COURSE INFO Short course - 2.3km Buggy friendly Long course - 4.4km ***************** DIRECTIONS Last weeks event was accessible by rail and for all those travelling from East Cork this weeks event is accessible via the Cross River ferry from Cobh to Passage. The wood is located 5km from Ringaskiddy or 7km from Carrigaline. The event will be signposted from the turn off from the Carrigaline - Ringaskiddy road. Further woodland trivia and directions are available at the link below. www.corko.net/calendar/currabinny-woods ***************** START TIMES Start anytime from 5:30pm to 7pm. ************ PARKING The wood is always popular with the locals
in the area and the car park isn't huge so we would encourage you to car
pool if you can. When parking please adhere to the directions of our
parking marshals and give some consideration for others who may wish to
enter/exit the wood while you are on your run. ************* This time last year the
midge population made their presence known in Currabinny Wood. So if you
have insect repellent it would be advisable to throw it into the car just
in case they are back again this year.WARNING I hope you've taken some time to analyse the results and splits from our last event and have pinpointed decisions were you lost valuable seconds/minutes over fellow competitors. If so, you may have also identified an orienteering rival you wish to reel in at Currabinny this week. Hope you can join us. |
