The second event in the Cork Orienteering Club Summer League will take place on Tuesday May 20th at Currabinny Wood, Ringaskiddy. Orienteering
events can take place at very diverse locations and this Tuesday's
terrain will differ greatly from last week. Currabinny Wood is located
on a prominent hill on a peninsula overlooking Cork Harbour. The forest
has a good network of paths and some lovely areas of runnable forest
which will suit those that like to take the direct route between
controls. It is sure to present new challenges to all who partake.COURSE INFO Short course - 3.0km Buggy friendly Long course - 5.0km DIRECTIONS The wood is located 5km from Ringaskiddy or 7km from Carrigaline. The event will be signposted from the turn off from the Carrigaline - Ringaskiddy road. Further woodland trivia and directions are available at the link below. www.corko.net/calendar/currabinny-woods START TIMES 5:30pm to 7pm. PARKING The
wood is always popular with the locals in the area and the car park
isn't huge so we would encourage you to car pool if you can. When
parking please adhere to the directions of our parking marshals and give
some consideration for others who may wish to enter/exit the wood while
you are on your run. I hope you've taken some time to analyse the results and splits from last week and pinpointed decisions were you lost valuable seconds/minutes over fellow competitors. If so, you will have also identified an orienteering rival you wish to reel in at Currabinny. Hope to see you there! |
