The third event in the CorkO Summer League will take place at James Fort, Kinsale on Tuesday May 28th.

This historic fort is a very unique orienteering destination. The area is comprised of open hillside surrounding the pentagonal Fort with its spear shaped earthen Bastions. The earthen moat encircling the Fort can present some navigational challenges while other novel features on the map include the sandy beach and stone tunnels but don’t forget to duck when negotiating the latter. Given the compact nature of this area participants will no doubt cross paths many times over the duration of their course as they traverse the sloping hills around the fort.

Short Course 1.6km
Long Course 3.6km

Notes on the Long course:
- This will be printed on a A5 double sided map.
- When you punch control 10 on the first side of the map then flip the map over for the second half of the course.

Due to access at the start and end of the Short course unfortunately this course won't be buggy friendly.

Start anytime from 5:30pm to 7pm.

The event will be signposted from the R600, on the road from Kinsale to Ballinspittle. As you leave Kinsale, on the south side of the bridge over the River Bandon, look for an orienteering sign pointing east towards Castlepark peninsula and James' Fort. A location map is available here:

Please note that there is a one-way system in operation on the access road to James' Fort. The road approaching The Dock bar, Dock beach and Castlepark marina will be very busy at this time of the evening. Please respect the other road users, park legally and with consideration. On leaving, follow the upper (left-hand) road away from The Dock Bar.

Hope you can join us for some fun at the Fort.
