Curragh Wood

The wood lies in a long narrow glen. The Leamlara River flows through this Glen and joins the Owenacurra River at the eastern edge of the wood. As a result the terrain is quite steep in places as the elevation rises from 30 to 150 meters.

Due to the physical nature of the landscape smart route choice with particular attention to the contour detail can help eliminate additional climb. The level path along the river bank provides lovely views of the forest while a magnificent ring fort exists at the pinnacle of the forest.
