Doneraile Forest Park

Doneraile Park was once home to the St. Leger Family. Doneraile Demense is a large 400 acre garden designed in the parkland style of 'Capability Brown'. The area has strong literary and sporting associations with Canon Sheehan (Centenary of his death this year),writer Elizabeth Bowen and poet Edmund Spencer as well as Dr. Croke and the famous Steeplechase race.

Doneraile Park is a short 45 minute drive from Blackpool. Travel north to Malllow and on to NewtwopotHouse,on the main Cork- Limerick Road and turn right. Doneraile is located on the R581 regional road 8 km east of the N20. It is about 12 km north of Mallow town. It is situated on the River Awbeg, a branch of the Blackwater. The entrance to the Park is located at the northern end of the village on the right hand side,opposite the entrance to the local golf club.
