Autumn League #3: Cork Showgrounds, Curraheen TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 10TH Event Info

The third event in our Autumn league will take place on Tuesday September 10th at the Cork Showgrounds in Curraheen.

With kind permissions from Munster Agricultural Society and UCC for the use of this area. The area isn't too technical but there are enough features to keep all orienteers concentrating - no room for small errors! You'll have to come along to sample the terrain for yourself.

COURSE INFO

The format for both long and short courses is similar to last year i.e. start by navigating through a mini orienteering grid exercise and then complete your run by taking on a regular orienteering course. Competitors will have an opportunity to get some practice on the grid before they begin in earnest.

Long Course ~4.7km

Short Course 2.5km.

Climb is negligible on both courses. Some of the fields used are being prepared for a cut of silage. If this cut has not taken place by Tuesday the high grass will present some difficulties for buggies - this only applies to a small section of the short course.

Start anytime from 5pm to 6:30pm. Courses close at 7:45pm.

DIRECTIONS

Take junction 2 off the N40 and follow signs for Curraheen village (do not take the exit for Curraheen Park the greyhound track!). The entrance to the competition area is 800m from the Marymount roundabout after 800m the orienteering event will be signposted on the right before you enter Curraheen village.
