Autumn League #5: Cork Showgrounds, Curraheen TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 19TH Event Info

Post date: Sep 17, 2017 11:21:3 PM

The final event in our Autumn league will take place on Tuesday September 19th at the Cork Showgrounds in Curraheen.

With permissions from Munster Agricultural Society and UCC, Liam O'Brien has produced a band new map of the Cork Showgrounds area and next Tuesday will be the first opportunity for orienteers to run on this new map and experience the terrain. We've been told the area isn't too technical but there are enough features to keep all orienteers concentrating - no room for small errors! You'll have to come along to sample the terrain for yourself.

Calcutta Immersion Program

*********************************

This week all funds collected at the event will go to the Midleton CBS Calcutta Immersion Programme headed by Dan McDonnell and Sean Kelleher.

COURSE INFO

******************

Long: 5.2km

Short: 2.2km

The short course is just about buggy friendly - mostly tracks and short grass.

At this event it is hoped to start off both courses with a run through a mini orienteering exercise before the competitor heads off on the normal O course.

DIRECTIONS

*****************

Take junction 2 off the N40 and follow signs for Curraheen village (do not take the exit for Curraheen Park the greyhound track!). The entrance to the competition area is 800m from the Marymount roundabout just before Curraheen village.

Hope you can join us.
