Basic Orienteering Skills Day - SATURDAY APRIL 28TH

Post date: Apr 09, 2018 3:37:41 PM

CorkO, in partnership with Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre, will be holding a training day for beginners and those wishing to learn or improve on basic orienteering skills.

Thinking of introducing some friends to the sport? Maybe you've only been to a couple of events yourself, and feel like you are missing out on some key orienteering skills; or maybe you're returning to the sport after a long break and want to brush up on the basics? If so, then this day could be of interest to you.

This course is open to everybody. It will be free of charge for CorkO members and there will be a likely charge, pending exact numbers, of €20 for non-members.

This training day is taking place on Saturday 28th April. We will be meeting at 9.30am at Kinsale OEC, St John's Hill, Kinsale (near The White Lady). First there will be some classroom-based learning, followed by a shuttle bus over to James' Fort, where you will try out your newly learned skills. Things should wrap up at about 4pm. It is advised to bring a packed lunch with you.

There are limited places available. Please reserve a place by emailing your name, contact details and a very brief description of your experience level (e.g. Have never been orienteering before, or have been to 2 or 3 summer league events, etc).

If any attendees are juniors, please give their ages. It is recommended that children be 8 years of age or over to gain maximum benefit from the course. Obviously this is not binding if they are being accompanied by a guardian.

After this course, I'm sure you will feel fully prepared to take on your next orienteering event with confidence.
