Cork League #2: Walshtown Wood, Dungourney SUNDAY OCT 13th

Hi All,

The second event in the Cork League takes place this Sunday October 13th at Walshtown Forest (GR: W 899 838) near Dungourney in East Cork. This area comprises of several large blocks of coniferous forest with a good road & track network. Visibility is generally very good and the going is largely fast except where brashings may impede your progress. The map has been extended and updated since the Summer League event in June.

Course Info:

Beginners (Yellow) - 3.3km, 10 controls, 25m climb. 

Improvers (Red) - 3.6km, 13 controls, 30m climb.

Short Technical (Green) - 5.5km, 18 controls, 100m climb.

Long Technical (Blue) - 7.9km, 22 controls, 100m climb.

Start times are between 11am and 12.30pm. Controls will be collected from 2.00pm

SportIdent punching will be used on the day.

If you plan on bringing a group, please contact us before hand to ensure sufficient maps.

Directions:

From Main Street in Midleton turn North-East on to the R627. Travel approx. 9km on the R627 to the village of Dungourney. At the Northern end of the village, take the LEFT-hand fork in the road, signposted for Fermoy and Castlelyons. Travel approx. 5km along this road to reach the forest. The roads around the area are narrow, so please obey the parking officials when parking your car.
