Munster Championships 2013 - Toureen Wood Results

Post date: Nov 05, 2013 1:27:44 AM

Thanks to all who took part in this year's Munster Orienteering Championships at Toureen Wood on Sunday November 3rd. We hope you all enjoyed the terrain and the navigational challenges the courses offered. Despite all the inclement weather of late we were fortunate enough to get a break in the weather which was just wide enough to avoid all the showers on the day and ensure all competitors and control collectors didn't get rained on.....excellent planning here!!

Well done to all who competed and congratulations to all the newly crowned Munster Champions.

Particular mention must be given to the M21 Champion Darren Burke (CorkO) who achieved his fifth consecutive Munster title which brings his total tally of Munster titles to seven which equals the previous record held by Brian Corbett (CorkO).

Congratulations also to the W21 Champion Niamh Corbett (CorkO) for a great run.

Full individual results with splits and route gadget are available here.

Special word of thanks to the planners Liam O'Brien and Willie Fitzgerald for setting out great courses. Thanks also to Dermot O'Sullivan (BOC) for controlling the event and John Scannell for organising the event and all the CorkO club members who helped with various tasks on the day. Everything ran very smoothly and efficiently which was a credit to the hard work of all involved in staging the event.

Some more photos from the prize giving can be found at the following link.

Congratulations to all the CorkO members who competed on the days. For several this was their first experience of Championship action, so we hope you enjoyed the day and will wear the club O-tops with pride at more Championship events in the future.
