Summer League #11: Farran Forest Park TUESDAY JULY 22nd Relays, BBQ & Prize-Giving

Post date: Jul 18, 2014 12:58:24 AM

The eleventh and final event in the 2014 CorkO Summer League will take place at Farran Forest Park on Tuesday evening July 22nd. As this will be the Summer League Finale the event will be followed by a BBQ and the league prize-giving.The park is located on the southern shore of Inniscarra lake and has ample car parking, a wildlife enclosure and a playground. It will be a very picturesque setting for our relay competition.

-------------------------

EVENT FORMAT

The format will be a fun 2-person relay! All first let runners will commence their courses at the same time. When they complete their course and return to the finish they will tag their team mate who can then set off on their course.

Each relay leg will be 2.4km (straight line).

There is a good path network in Farran so the area is buggy friendly.

The map scale is 1:4000

------------

TEAMS

In the interest of fun and fairness we would ask all those who finished in the top twenty of the league to find a team mate outside the top twenty. We don't want a "packed duo" running away with the relay!!

We really would encourage everyone to come along and enjoy this fun event. If you don't have a team mate before the event don't worry as the organisers will assist with team selection/pairings on the night to ensure everyone gets a run/walk/jog or stroll.

-------------------

START TIMES

There will be a group start of all first leg runners at 18.30. We will have a briefing 5 minutes beforehand to explain everything. Please allow enough time to register or find a team mate.

We have asked for the barrier at the entrance to the park to be opened for free entry between 5.30pm and 7pm. If you arrive outside this time you will most likely have to pay the €5 entrance fee.

-------

BBQ

The BBQ will start at 7:30pm in the National Rowing Centre which is also in the park (a 50m walk from the car park).

---------

COST

Adult €5 - includes relay entry and BBQ ticket.

Child €3 - includes relay entry and BBQ ticket.

Family €10 - includes relay entry and 3 BBQ tickets.

Additional BBQ tickets can be purchased at a cost of €5 for adults and €3 for children.

Anyone who attended our BBQ in the rowing centre last year will remember how tasty the food was.

LEAGUE FINISHERS

--------------------------------

If you didn't manage to achieve one of the top places in the league don't worry all league finishers will receive a specially designed T-shirt. Similar to last year to avoid waste and ensure that you receive a T-shirt that fits you correctly we will have some sample T-shirts available at the Farran Forest Park on Tuesday for you to try on. We will then order your desired size and you can collect it at any of our Autumn League events.

So far we have over 100 league finishers check the results file to see if you are one of the lucky few. Furthermore, the following people can still qualify for a T-shirt if they run on Tuesday, so do come out and compete.
