Summer League #3 - Fota House & Gardens - EVENT INFO

Post date: May 18, 2012 9:33:17 AM

Hi folks,

The next installment in the CorkO Summer League will take place next Tuesday (22nd May) at FOTA HOUSE AND GARDENS. Anyone who was at Currabinny last week will be glad to hear that this is a FLAT area! Like Farran, this will be a 'PARK-O' event, with lots of direction changes and plenty of controls to keep you thinking on your feet.

Course Details:

Short course: 2.5 km approx, 15 controls (buggy friendly)

Long course: 4.2 km approx, 21 controls

HEAD-TO-HEAD FARSTA CHALLENGE (optional)

The Long course will feature 2 'butterfly' controls (that is, controls that will be visited more than once). This will allow us to let up to 4 competitors to race head-to-head all at the same time, each on a different variant of the map (everyone covers the same total distance, but groups of controls are in a different order). So if you are up for the task, why not CHALLENGE up to 3 friends and set off on a MINI MASS START? Of course, this is optional!

GETTING THERE

Fota is one of the only orienteering events in the country that you can get to directly by train! Timetables on www.irishrail.ie. Registration will be in the main Fota car park from 5.30pm - 7.00pm. Further directions on:

If you are bringing your car, bear in mind that there is a 3 euro charge to exit the car park, so remember to bring your 1 and 2 euro coins. Car pool if you can. To offset the parking charge, we're offering FREE SI Card Hire at the event.

Hope to see you there,

Rob McEvoy (Planner)
