Summer League #7: Moanbaun Wood, Watergrasshill TUESDAY JUNE 24TH Event Info

The next event in the CorkO Summer League will take place at Moanbaun Wood (outside Watergrasshill) on Tuesday 24th June. The landscape in Moanbaun Wood is mixture of semi-open forest, rough undergrowth, and open forest with a good road network, many earth walls and some streams. If the last few summer league events in this area are anything to go by there are sure to be plenty of midge in attendance on the night. So midge repellent could be useful to pack when travelling to Moanbaun Wood.To date we have sixteen league finisher who have already secured themselves the 2014 edition of our summer league finisher technical t-shirt. Remember you need to attend six events to get your hands on one of these stylish items of running apparel.
Presently, Chiara Bosonnet is top of the leaderboard on the Short course but brother Isaac could potentially overtake her if he has a good run in Moanbaun Wood. Gerry & Maeve Brett are also contenders for Short course league leaders if they make it on Tuesday and run well.
Jonathan Lucey is the heading the field in the Long course men's league with 24 points. It might take a few weeks before anyone can close in on Jonathan's lead.
In the Ladies section on the Long course it is Trishia O'Mahony who sits on top of the table with a margin of just one point. However, if Sharon Lucey attends the Moanbaun event and has a good run she could leap up the leaderboard and take a comfortable lead heading into the remaining league events.

COURSE INFO
Long course is 4.3km with 17 controls and 45m climb Short course is 3km with 9 controls and minimal climb.The short course is completable with a buggy but the forest roads have recently been resurfaced with aggregate and are a little rough.Map scale: 1:7500 with 10m contours.

Competitors can start any time between 5:30pm and 7pm.

DIRECTIONS
The wood is about 3km East of Watergrasshill. If travelling from Cork city, exit the M8 Dublin motorway at Watergrasshill (at junction 17, BEFORE the toll), use the bridge to cross over the motorway, turn left, and after 500m take the right turn for Leamlara/Kartworld. Follow this road for 3.5km.
From Fermoy/Mitchelstown/Cahir, exit the M8 just after the toll, go straight through the roundabout and take the left after 100m (signposted Leamlara/Kartworld). Follow this road for 3.5km.
