Summer League #8: Ballyannon Wood (Midleton) TUESDAY JULY 1ST Event Info

Post date: Jun 27, 2014 9:3:13 PM

The next event in the CorkO Summer League will take place at Ballyannon Wood in Midleton on Tuesday 1st July.

With just three competitive events left in this year league there are limited opportunities to finish the league or improve your current league standing. Furthermore, the compact nature of the wood at Ballyannon can prove tricky and any poor navigational decisions here could really spoil a good run. While the Corbett family featured prominently at last weeks event. It is the Lucey siblings who are currently in pole position in the league tables.

Jonathan Lucey is topping the men's Long course league results. However there are a number of competitors who could potentially knock him off the top of the leader board if they make it to Ballyannon and run well. These include Cillin Corbett, John Chandler and Brian Corbett.

Jonathan's sister Sharon is the league topper in the Long course ladies section. Her current total of 11 points ensures she can not be overtaken in the short term. It would require some very consistent running over the final three competitive events from the chasing pack of Trishia O'Mahony, Elaine Sheridan and Deirdre Creedon to deny her the a Summer League Winners title.

On the Short course Chiara Bosonnet is league leader but her position isn't all that secure as four fellow competitors have the opportunity to overtake her if they make an appearance in Ballyannon and run well. Among these contenders are Jamie Latimer, Callum McIIreavy, Gerry and Maeve Brett and her brother Isaac.

To date there are 31 participants who have completed the league and a further 22 people can join them and stake their claim to the exclusive league finisher t-shirt if they attend this Tuesday's event.
