Summer League #9: Tracton Wood TUESDAY JULY 8TH Event Info

Post date: Jul 06, 2014 10:43:44 AM

The next event in the CorkO Summer League will take place at Tracton Wood near Minane Bridge on Tuesday July 8th.

There are just two competitive events to go in this years Summer League and already it seems the Long course men's and lady's champion titles have already been decided as it looks like our current leaders can't be caught. Following his fifth consecutive event week last Tuesday night in Ballyannon Wood Cillin Corbett moves to the top of the Long Course Men's League table with a total of 10 points. Having completed his sixth event John Chandler has jumped into second place on the leader board with a total of 16 points. As a result of Cillin and John's exploits Jonathan Lucey drops two places to third with 22 points. All our leaders have scope to improve their point total over the final two events and several challengers could upset the current standings if they attend the remaining events and run well. In particular if Conrad Daly, Brian Corbett and Danny O'Hare improve on some of their earlier results they could squeeze there way into the top spots.

Meanwhile in the Ladies League Sharon Lucey had another good run on Tuesday evening and reduced her overall points total to just 10 points which will surely guarantee her the 2014 Summer League Ladies Champion title. The runners-up spot is still very much up for grabs with Trishia O'Mahony presently lying in second place with 17 points a mere 2 points clear of Elaine Sheridan who is presently in third. Deirdre Creedon and Una Buckley could potentially make their way into the top three if they run well at the remaining events.

On the Short course Chiara Bosonnets time at the top of the leaderboard came to an end on Tuesday and the new league leader is Callum McIIreavy with 19 points. Gerry and Maeve Brett are presently sitting in second place with 39 points and Jamie Latimer is in third place with 49 points. Jamie has perhaps the biggest scope to progress up the leaderboard if can improve on his 20th placing at the Doneraile event this will drastically reduce his overall points total.

Right throughout the results table many summer league regulars have the ability to better their current standing and overtake their orienteering rivals. To find out where you currently lie in the results tables and who you can overtake in the coming weeks check out the latest league tables here.

Also if you spot any errors or omissions please do let us know.

Already 56 people have attended enough events to claim their Summer League finisher t-shirt. So if you want to look as stylish as these individuals when in action in the woods there are still three events left so don't miss out!
