Sun Shines on Cliona's Event

The sun shone brightly in Doneraile Park on the morning of Sunday September 4th, attracting a large crowd to take part in the Cliona Callanan Memorial Orienteering Event in aid of the Cork Children's Leukaemia Association. It was great to see so many smiling, happy people return to the popular event and bask in the glorious sunshine in the beautiful surroundings of Doneraile Park. With three courses on offer, ranging from a 2.5km Short course and a 3.5km Medium course to the more competitive 4.9km Long course, there was something to suit all the family.

First three home in each category were as follows:

Long Course: 4.9km - 22 Controls

1. Frank O'Brien 33.33

2. Liam O'Brien 34.58

3. John Scannell 39.54

Medium Course: 3.5km - 16 Controls

1. Fiachra Carey 26.07

2. Caoimhe Carey 26.42

3. Emily Sheedy 34.56

Short Course: 2.5km - 12 Controls

1. Ruaidhri O'Brien 18.43

2. Fionn O'Hare 25.03

3. Seanán Crean 26.34

But everyone was a winner on this special day in memory of Cliona.

An honourable mention to the Harding family from Castletownroche who took part, all 19 of them, well done everyone.

Over 120 people took part raising over €1650 in a few hours, a fantastic achievement. Sincere thanks to everyone who took part or supported us in any way.If anybody would like to donate they can do so directly through the Children's Leukaemia Association website (cla.ie).
