Regional Park Ballincollig Permanent Orienteering Course

The course arose out of a joint initiative between the Recreation and Amenities section of Cork County Council and Cork Orienteering Club and is sponsored by Margaret Long of Cafe Chico.

The Permanent Orienteering Course has 16 permanent control points each with a sturdy metal post topped with a red/white orienteering logo (as shown opposite). The course has been cleverly layout to allow participants the option of completing a short, medium or long loop.

These courses are an ideal way of introducing children and adults to orienteering. As they can go at their own pace and spend as much time as you they like figuring out the map and navigating to the controls. Permanent orienteering courses can be used for a more adventurous family stroll, or for training to gain confidence away from the timing restrictions of more organised competitions.
