Autumn League #4: Fota House and Gardens TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 17th Event Info

Post date: Sep 15, 2013 8:34:31 PM

The final event in the Cork Orienteering club Autumn League will take place on Tuesday September 17th at Fota House and Gardens.

Fota's arboretum and gardens are internationally recognised and have the finest collections of rare and tender trees and shrubs grown outdoors in Ireland and Britain and I'm sure their autumnal colours will provide a stunning backdrop for Tuesday's orienteering event. This week the Explorer course will be 3.3km with 14 controls. The course is also buggy friendly. The theme of Tuesday's Explorer course is orientating your map, so there will be lots of direction changes out on the course and Explorers should focus on rotating their map every time they change direction. There will be a practice exercise in the car park which they can do before they set off on their course.

The Advanced course will not only test competitors orienteering skills but it will also test their memory as it will be a Norwegian course. There will be 11 legs which will have to be memorized. The straight line distance is about 3.5km.

Starts will be from 5:30pm - 6:30pm
