CorkO Autumn League starts next TUESDAY (August 28th) at FOTA

Hi folks,

September is nearly upon us (where did the summer go to?) and that means it's time to launch this year's CorkO Autumn League. The league will run every Tuesday evening from August 28th to September 18th, with your best three events to count. The fixutes in the league are as follows:

August 28th: Fota House & Gardens

September 4th: Moanbaun Wood (Watergrasshill)

September 11th: Currabinny Wood (Ringaskiddy)

September 18th: Farran Forest Park

This year we have a new addition to the league in the form of a TRAILS course, this is aimed at people with running experience but who have never navigated before. The TRAILS course will be approx. 5km+ in length, all on paths and trails, with minimal navigation required. Of course we will continue to have our SHORT and LONG courses like in the Summer League, SHORT being suitable for Families/Juniors/Beginners and LONG catering for the more experienced orienteers.

So down to business, the first Autumn League event of the year will take place at Fota House & Gardens on this coming Tuesday, August 28th. As mentioned above there will be THREE courses on offer:

SHORT: Approx. 2.5km

LONG: Approx. 5km

TRAILS: Approx. 5km, perfect for runners/joggers who want a taste of orienteering (without getting lost)

GETTING THERE

Fota is one of the only orienteering events in the country that you can get to directly by train! Timetables on www.irishrail.ie.

REGISTRATION will be in the main Fota car park from 5.30pm - 7.00pm. Further directions on: http://www.corko.net/calendar/fota-island

If you are bringing your car, bear in mind that there is a 3 euro charge to exit the car park, so remember to bring your 1 and 2 euro coins. Car pool if you can.

Our Summer League prices will remain unchanged for the Autumn League:

SI Card Hire: EUR 2

Adult: EUR 5

Junior/Student/OAP: EUR 3

Family: EUR 10

T-SHIRTS

T-shirts for people who completed the Summer League will be available for collection at Fota event.
