Summer League #2 Fota House and Gardens TUESDAY JUNE 7th Event Info

Post date: Jun 03, 2022 10:23:38 PM

The second event in the CorkO Summer League will take place on TUESDAY JUNE 7TH at Fota House and Gardens.

Fota's arboretum and gardens are internationally recognised and have the finest collections of rare and tender trees and shrubs grown outdoors in Ireland and Britain and I'm sure their colours will provide a stunning backdrop for Tuesday's orienteering event.

This beautiful parkland terrain provides an ideal location to commence our Summer League. With a good network of paths the area is very buggy friendly. This location always proves popular with families and is a delightful area for beginners and those new to the sport to embark on some orienteering adventures. The Sprint-O nature of the landscape will also provide several challenges for our experienced orienteers and the fast pace will mean that every second really will count.

COURSE DETAILS

Long Course 4.3km, 20 controls

Short Course 2.2km, 15 controls

Shorts will be fine for the long course, although there is a little undergrowth in the forest section.

Short course is mostly buggy friendly but some steps beside Fota house will need to be negotiated.

The flat parkland terrain at Fota means the climb is negligible on both courses.
