Summer League #4: The Regional Park Ballincollig TUESDAY JUNE 4th Event Info

Post date: May 31, 2013 10:25:19 AM

The fourth event in our Summer orienteering series will take place at the Regional Park in Ballincollig next Tuesday, 4th June. The park extends over one and half miles on the south bank of the river Lee and includes sports fields, woods and meadows. The parkland area is very flat and has a good arrangement of large paths making the area buggy friendly. Interesting route choice is provided by the limited number of crossing points along the canals and millraces which run throughout the park. No doubt a building or ruin will be one of your control sites due to the very large number of these dotted right throughout the park.Starts will be from the WESTERN side and as usual will be from 5.30pm to 7.00pm. Paper punching will be in use at this event, but please do still bring your SI cards as these will be used for timing. There will be two courses on offer:- A shorter course that is suitable for beginners and juniors, 2.5km approx, 10 controls and buggy friendly (if you don't mind taking the buggy a little off-road)- A longer course that is trickier and suitable for more experienced orienteers, 4km approx, 16 controls and buggy un-friendlyPlanner/Organiser: Ken O'NeillController: David O'DonovanCafe Chico (www.cafechico.ie) will remain open at the western car park for the duration of the event. After your run, why not treat yourself to some

fresh tea, coffee, hot chocolate or home-made cake, and chat about your route choices in the June evening sunshine.

Have a nice Bank Holiday weekend and hope to see you on Tuesday at Ballincollig.
