Orienteering @ Galty Castle Wood, Tipperary Sunday November 3rd
Cork Orienteering Club will host a local event this coming Sunday, November 3rd at Galty Castle Wood, near Kilbeheny on the Limerick/Tipperary border.
Hope you will come along and take advantage of the opportunity to experience this magnificent area. There will be courses to suit all orienteering abilities.
TERRAIN
Terrain is a mixture of forestry with coniferous and deciduous section, forest trails and good road/track network and some undergrowth.
COURSE INFO
Blue 6.6km, 245m climb, 19 controls.
Green 5.0km, 215m climb, 16 controls.
Light green 4.1km, 160m climb, 14 controls.
Orange 2.9km, 100m climb, 11 controls.
Full leg cover essential.
Deer in the area - check for ticks after your run.
Some short boggy sections on Blue, Green and Light-Green.
Blue course has some steep physical slopes in parts.
Blue, Green and Light-Green course will cross a quiet public road - watch out for passing vehicles.
Orange course will have off path sections in forest.

START TIMES
Competitors can start anytime from 11am to 12.30pm.
DIRECTIONS
Approaching from the South and West take exit 12 of the M8 motorway for Kilbeheny.
Event will be signposted from a junction on R639 (Old main Dublin-Cork road) 1km East of Kilbeheny.
Approaching from the East and North take exit 11 of the M8 motorway and head west in the direction of Kilbeheny.
Event will be signposted from a junction on R639 (Old main Dublin-Cork road) 1km west after passing under the M8 Motorway bridge.
Parking will be in the Galty Castle wood (Attychraan Loop trail) car park (approximately 1.5km south of Kings Yard on the west side of the river Funshion).
