2024 Summer League #3

Summer League #3 Regional Park Ballincollig Tuesday June 4th

The third event in the Cork Orienteering Club Summer League will take place on Tuesday June 4th at the Regional Park Ballincollig.

Please note this event will start from the MIDDLE CAR PARK.

The park extends along the south bank of the river Lee and the terrain is mixed parkland, with fast grass and path sections, some forest run and some undergrowth. The land was originally part of the Ballincollig Gunpowder Mills and the eastern end of the park is where the many ruins of the old Gunpowder Factory are still visible. Interesting route choice is provided by the limited number of crossing points along the canals and millraces which run throughout the park.

Training Activity - Introducing the Compass in Orienteering

We will be running a training activity in conjunction with Tuesday evening's event.

The training activity will provide an introduction to the use of the compass in Orienteering.

It will be an excellent opportunity for all of last year's short course finishers to utilise the thumb compasses they received as a reward for completing last year's league.

The training is aimed at those wanting to progress or who have newly progressed to the Long course.

We would encourage everyone to participate in the training before running your preferred course on the day.

Long course 4.9 km 17 controls

Short course 2.8km 9 controls and buggy friendly.

All controls from the park will be removed at 7:30pm.
