SouthWest League #4 Crohane Lake, Co. Kerry Sunday September 28th
Cork Orienteering Club are delighted to invite you to take part in the SouthWest League #4 event at Crohane Lake, next Sunday September 28th. This area was used for the 1998 World Cup Qualification Races and Shamrock O-Ringen. It is typical West Cork/Kerry open mountain with intricate contour detail. The area is high open moorland, ruggest and wet in the best of weather, and not suitable for novices. In poor weather, even runners on the Orange course will need to be confident in their orienteering skills. Whistles are mandatory, and rain jackets may be compulsory on the day.

Green, 4.7km, 14c, 170m climb, 1:10,000 map
Light Green, 4km, 13c, 100+m climb, 1:10,000 map
Red, 3.4km, 13c, 145m climb, 1:7,500 map
Orange, 1.5km, 9c, 70m climb, 1:7,500 map
Many of the courses pass through patches of bracken, which may have ticks, so full leg cover and high socks are recommended.

Online entries close at 6pm on Friday September 25th so why not take the hassle out of registration on the day and enter online entry in advance.
DIRECTIONS
Travel along the N22 (Cork-Killarney road) and take the turn-off for Kenmare at Poulgorm bridge (5km from Glenflesk, or 20km from Ballyvourney). Continue 6km along this road (R569) and turn right on to the forest road at the Ros An Croo Na Loo car park (bend), follow direction signs along forest road to park on one side of this forest road.Â
