2025 Summer League Standings
(after 7 events)
Ahead of the penultimate event in the 2025 CorkO Summer league it is worth taking another look at the results leaderboard to see who our current leaders are.
On the Short course there are now 4 league finishers and after some corrections to the results table our leader is still Daithi Russell with a total of 8 pts. With such a command lead he is sure to be crowned our 2025 Summer League Short Course Champion. The contest for second place is really heating up. Presently Laoise O’Mahony has a slim hold on the runner up spot with a total of 41 pts just one point clear of Aoibhe Walsh. While Mary Ann O’Brien presently has a total of 30 pts after 5 events and with a go run at one of the remaining events can nudge her way into the runner up spot provided Laoise and Aoibhe do not improve on their current points totals. Clare Nuttall and several members of the Collins family – namely Ruadh, Daithi and Frieda also require one more event to complete the league and, in the process, could also edge their way onto the podium.
After seven events there are now four league finishers in the Men’s section on the Long course. Corrin Russell still has a firm hold on pole position with a total of 27 pts. A 6th place finish at last weeks event has reduced Ruaidhri O’Brien league tally to 41 pts and he still sits in the runner up spot. Third place is currently held by Pat Murphy with a total of 122 pts. Important to note that a further 12 participants can join the current list of league finishers if they attend the Glenbower Wood event. Of these several can potentially muscle there way into the podium spots. Notably Fionn O’Callaghan and Gerald Duffy have 26 and 28 pts respectively. While further down the leaderboard our Glenbower Wood event planner could also grab a late podium spot once his event planner points are considered and provided, he attends the final event in Fota and runs well. After a first-place finish last week Alec O’Brien is still on track to potentially edge his way into a podium finish. He presently has a total of 18 pts after four events but must attend the final two events and run well to achieve this.
In the Women’s section on the Long course there are now 6 league finishers and Mary O’Brien still tops the leaderboard with a total of 21 pts. Una Buckey currently holds the runner up spot with 24 pts while Elaine Sheridan is in third place with 48 pts. However, Caroline Murray, our reigning Summer League Women’s Champion can still defend her title if she attends at least one of the remaining events and runs well. Her current points tally is just 10. Similarly, Fi O’Meara and Niamh Morrissey both need to attend the remaining two events to complete the league and with points totals of 7 and 8 respectively they too could grab podium spots in the process.
Let us see if our league leaders can handle the added pressure from the chasing pack over the remaining events. Lots of bragging rights still up for grabs in the remaining two events. Thanks again to everyone who has participated so far. Full league tables can be viewed at the following link:
