2026 Irish Orientering Championships
Sheep's Head Peninsula
May 2nd - 4th
The Irish Orienteering Championships kicks off this weekend with competitors converging from all over Ireland and abroad on the Sheep's Head Peninsula in West Cork for three days of Championship action. With over 390 entrants it's sure to be a very competitive weekend across all the classes and the evening activities will make it a very social occasion too.
The event is already grabbing headlines locally with a great write up in the Southern Star.

National school children on the peninsula will get an opportunity to learn some orienteering skills today with some fun orienteering activities planned for Kilcrohane National School and community field, hosted by coaches from Orienteering Ireland.Â
It's a huge weekend for our club with CorkO hosting this year's championships. Our IOC 2026 sub-committee has been planning and organising the events for the last year and we have a strong contingent of club volunteers rowing in to help with all the logistics over the weekend. It's a huge undertaking, but many hands lighten the load.
CorkO also has 30+ members ready to enter the start box. We would like to wish everyone travelling the best of luck over the weekend.
Enjoy the orienteering and all the Sheep's Head Peninsula has to offer.
Best of luck to all those organising and competing. Go team CorkO! We know you can deliver.
