CorkO 2024 Summer League

It's that time of year again when the evenings are long and bright and there's now more time to play outdoors and no better way to while away an evening that at a CorkO Summer Orienteering League event. We are back and will be coming to a forest or park near you real soon. So it is now time to root out your o-shoes and dust off your SI card and get ready for some wood and parkland adventures.

Each week we will be orienteering in a different forest or park in and around Cork city and county. If your are looking for a healthy, fun, outdoor activity to fill the long summer evenings then why not encourage your family, friends or colleagues to take part and enjoy a fun evening in the woods. Beginners and families are always welcome, and we will have someone on hand at each event to show you the ropes.

SUMMER LEAGUE SEASON TICKET

Participants can entry each event online at Orienteering Ireland (www.orienteering.ie/fixtures). The online entry will close 9pm the evening before each event.

Similar to last year participants will also have the option to purchase a summer league season ticket.

The season ticket covers entry to all 9 Summer League events and our warm up/practice event.

By entering the whole league up front participants shall receive a great value discounted rate.

Season Ticket Prices

Adult: €45

Child/Student/Unwaged/Senior: €32

Family: €100 (Maximum of 2 Adults and no more than 5 family members / family)

SUMMER LEAGUE WARM UP/PRACTICE EVENT

As a prequel to the 2024 Summer League CorkO shall host a warm-up/practice event on Tuesday 14th May in Tramore Valley Park.

The aim of this event to provide some basic navigation training to help hone your orienteering skills and prepare for our Summer League events.

There will be 2 courses on offer on the night geared towards specific orienteering techniques.

Here are the locations that will be visited in the 2024 Cork Orienteering Club Summer League:

SL#1: May 21st Currabinny Wood, Ringaskiddy

SL#2: May 28th Doneraile Forest Park, Doneraile

SL#3: June 4th Regional Park Ballincollig

SL#4: June 11th James Fort, Kinsale

SL#5: June 18th Curragh Wood, Midleton

SL#6: June 25th Ballyannon Wood, Midleton

SL#7: July 2th Mallow Town Park, Mallow

SL#8: July 9th Warrenscourt Wood, Lissarda

SL#9: July 16th Fota House and Gardens, Fota

Remember you need to attend 6 events to complete the league and receive a league finisher memento.

COURSES

Our summer league events are fun, suitable for all the family, young and old, and irrespective of fitness levels. As usual there will be two courses on offer each evening.

1. Short (1.5km to 2.5km) which is aimed at families, juniors and beginners.

2. Long (3.5km to 4.5km)

START TIME

You can start anytime between 5:30pm and 6:45pm at each event.

Control collection will commence at 7:30pm

ENTRY FEES

Entry fees are €5 Juniors/Students/Seniors, €7 Adult and €15 Family.
