Christmas Fun Event: Regional Park Ballincollig WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 28TH

Post date: Dec 27, 2022 3:42:44 PM

There is one final orienteering event in the CorkO calendar for 2022 and that is our Christmas Fun Event on Wednesday December 28th in the Regional Park Ballincollig.

This event will be suitable for all the family so please encourage your family and friends to join us on our final outdoor adventure of the year.

This will be a SCORE event with a 45 minute time limit.

Competitors have to visit as many of the 25 controls in any order they like within the time limit allowed.

There will be a penalty of 10 points subtracted for every minute a participant goes over the allotted 45 minutes maximum.

There are 25 controls spread over the course, with points ranging from 5 points for those controls closest to the starting point, ranging up to 30 points for controls furthest away from the starting point.

All competitors will have to plan the best route to get as high a score as possible within the time limit.

Don't forget your watch to avoid losing any hard earned points! A clear head and some strategic planning might also be useful on the day to determine how to get the maximum points on offer.

Start will be from the MIDDLE CAR PARK between 11 and 12pm sharp.

Registration will be open from 11am so please come early to register and warm up.

The event will start from the MIDDLE CAR PARK of Ballincollig Regional Park, behind the church in Innishmore, 10km west of Cork city.

From the roundabout in the centre of Ballincollig main street (beside Tesco), head North down past Tesco, take the first left, then turn right after the church. The park car park is on the right.

Parking is limited and is used by the allotments, so please car pool, use public transport or cycle if possible. Excess parking may be available on the public road in front of the church.

If you get some new O-gear for Christmas there is no better place to test it out then at our Christmas Fun Event. So why not join us on the day and work off that Christmas dinner! It is our last event of the year and is sure to be a fun and social gathering.

Happy Christmas from all at CorkO
