Coming Soon To A Forest or Park Near You......the 2018 CorkO Summer Orienteering League

Post date: Apr 30, 2018 8:26:19 AM

Hi All,

It's that time of year again when the evenings are long and bright and there's now more time to play outdoors which means the CorkO Summer Orienteering League is back and will be coming to a forest or park near you real soon.

So why not get outdoors and join us for some evening orienteering. This year's summer evening league will be kicking off on TUESDAY MAY 8TH at FOTA HOUSE AND GARDENS and the league will run every Tuesday until July 17th. Each week we will be orienteering in a different forest or park in and around Cork city and county.

So it is now time to root out your o-shoes and dust off your SI card and get ready for some wood and parkland adventures. Time will tell whose winter training has been most effective and who will peak at the right time! We hope the reigning Summer League champions

Men's Long Course Champion: Conrad Daly

Women's Long Course Champion: Niamh Corbett

Short Course Champion: Chiara & Isaac Bosonnet

will be out to defend their titles. No doubt other rivalries will be renewed and perhaps even some new contenders will emerge over the coming weeks.

Our summer league events are fun, suitable for all the family, young and old, and irrespective of fitness levels. As usual there will be two courses on offer each evening.

1. Short (<2.5km) which is aimed at families, juniors and beginners.

2. Long (< 5km)

You can start anytime between 5:30pm and 7pm at each event.

Entry fees are €3 Juniors/Students, €5 Adult and €10 Family.

So if your looking for a healthy, fun, outdoor activity to fill the long summer evenings then why not encourage your family, friends or colleagues to take part and enjoy a fun evening in the woods. Beginners and families are always welcome, and we will have someone on hand at each event to show you the ropes. Furthermore, if anyone would like some flyers or a poster to help promote the league in your workplace please let me know and I'll get some to you.
