With just one day to go to the start of the Cork Orienteering Club's 2015 Summer League we thought we'd give you a taste of what lies in store for all those orienteering enthusiasts who plan on attending our event in Fota House and Gardens on Tuesday May 12th.
Not only does the picturesque setting of Fota House and Gardens offer tricky and testing orienteering terrain but it's charming vistas could easily distract you from the task at hand. As you navigate your way around these stunning environs your visual, auditory and olfactory senses will be stimulated.
The historic gardens have a vibrant mix of plants and shrubs and the grandeur of the mature trees reflect this long standing past. The sculptures and structures which adorn this space further enrich this area. Meanwhile the open woodland offers fast running terrain and trails lined with bluebells and wild garlic. Some of the residents of the adjoining wild life park can be seen and heard as you traverse this unique orienteering location.
It is difficult to capture the true magic of this setting but here is a teaser of just some of the scenes which lie in store on Tuesday evening. So why not try a game of orienteering bingo and see how many of these sights you can spy while completing your course.
