Summer League #5: Ballyannon Wood TUESDAY JUNE 7TH Event Info
Post date: Jun 03, 2016 11:16:45 AM
The next event in the CorkO Summer League will take place at Ballyannon Wood in Midleton on Tuesday June 7thBallyannan Wood is a beautiful mature mixed woodland located at the end of Dyers Road in Midelton on the Owenacurra Esturary. It is a relatively small wood with a very extensive network of paths. The similarity between a number of these paths often causes confusion and one junction in the centre of the wood has six such paths off it. It might be beneficial to have a compass on hand to aid navigation and relocation!

The start will be a 5 minute walk from parking/registration. On the way to the start competitors will pass the finish control/unit. It might be no harm to take note of where it is located because it will be marked somewhat ambiguously on the course map.
High tide is at 8pm meaning the later starters might not have the same route choice or access to some controls that the earlier starters had!
Coming from Cork:
Take the first Midleton exit off the N25, Continue to the first set of traffic lights here (200m after the exit), turn right at the lights and cross over the flyover as if you were heading back to Cork, take the first exit at the roundabout and almost immediately take the next left onto the private road.
Park where the marshals indicate.
Coming from the East:
Go straight through the Midleton roundabout on the N25. Turn left at the Midleton flyover exit and take the second exit from the roundabout. Proceed as above.
Finally, best of luck to all those participating in the Leinster 3 Day, Cork City Marathon, Carrauntoohil Hill run, Cork Harbour Festival and any other adventure activities this June Bank holiday weekend. Remember the event at Ballyannon Wood is ideal for loosening out after a strenuous weekend of activities or alternatively a nice workout after a very laid-back long weekend.
