Summer League #5: Warrenscourt Wood TUESDAY JUNE 9TH Event Info

The next event in the CorkO Summer League will take place in Warrenscourt Wood near Lissarda on TUESDAY JUNE 9TH.Warrenscourt Wood with its gently sloping woodland has a northerly aspect overlooking the Buingea River and the rich farmland all around it. Once part of the Warrenscourt demesne its Oak and Beech woodlands having become depleted during the 2nd world war were restocked with mainly conifers in the early sixties. The main forest road is a tree lined avenue of beech and sycamore. This was once known as the "Butter Road", used by farmers to bring their butter to the Cork market.No doubt some interesting and challenging orienteering courses await those who venture west next Tuesday evening.************************** COURSE INFOShort course will be 2.4kmLong course will be 4.2km Full leg cover is advisable.



Start anytime from 5:30pm to 7pm



The event will be signposted from Lissarda on the N22 Cork-Macroom road and the start will be at the Kilmurry entrance to the forest. A location map is available here:



Please park with consideration. If you are travelling alone in a car, consider parking up in the village and walking/jogging the 500m down to the wood as parking space in the wood are limited. If parking in the wood please do not block the access road by parking on the narrow parts!
