Munster Urban League #2: Cork City, Monday February 3rd


Wishing all our members and supporters a very Happy New Year. Hope everyone is looking forward to some challenging orienteering at great locations in 2025.


Cork Orienteering Club invite you to join us for our first orienteering event of 2025 on Monday February 3rd for the second event in the South West Urban Series in Cork City. The event will start in Fitzgerald's park.


All those who attended the last Urban event in Fethard town got to navigate around the charming and picturesque streets and lanes in this beautiful heritage town. You can see some photos from the day here:

At Sunday's event competitors will be navigating their way around the parks and streets of Cork City. There will be courses to suit all levels of orienteering experience as well as all ages and fitness levels.


COURSE INFORMATION

The distances below are running distances rather than straight line distances:


Short - 2km will be confined to  Fitzgerald's Park.

Medium - 4.7km Cork City

Long - 5.7km Cork City


START TIME

Competitors can start anytime from 10am to 11:30am.

REGISTRATION

Registration will be located close to the South Eastern gate of Fitzgerald's park (likely to the east of this along Mardyke Walk dependent on parking):

It is recommended to use public parking along Mardyke Walk where available.


Short Course Start

Medium and Long Course Start

The start for the medium and long course will be outside Tyndall:

Go east along Mardyke Walk directly. This is about 700m from registration.


Runners are recommended for all courses. For the medium and long courses, these have been planned to try and minimise busy road crossings. The roads should be quiet at this time but caution should be exercised.
