Summer League #4: Regional Park Ballincollig TUESDAY JUNE 21ST Event Info

Post date: Jun 19, 2022 6:54:39 PM

The fourth event in the Cork Orienteering Club Summer League will take place on Tuesday June 21st at the Regional Park Ballincollig. Please note this event will start from the MIDDLE CAR PARK.

The park extends along the south bank of the river Lee and the terrain is mixed parkland, with fast grass and path sections, some forest run and some undergrowth. The land was originally part of the Ballincollig Gunpowder Mills and the eastern end of the park is where the many ruins of the old Gunpowder Factory are still visible. Interesting route choice is provided by the limited number of crossing points along the canals and millraces which run throughout the park.

Short course, 3.2km, 14 controls

Buggy friendly, mostly on tarmac paths but some sections on grass

Long course, 5.1km, 19 controls

Wear long sleeves/pants, we won’t be sending you directly into nettle patches but there are a couple of controls that are in overgrown sections and brambles and nettles might be unavoidable.

All controls from the park will be removed at 7:30pm.

Start/registration and Finish are at the middle allotments car park.

Competitors can start any time between 5.30pm and 6:45pm.
